One last camping trip

We did very little camping this year so we made sure to get one last trip in before school started. Thanks to our good friends the Pursells, who arranged everything. We had a great time. I am so lame I can't even remember the campsite we were at but it was near Pope Beach in Lake Tahoe. The kids were great except for the first night of trying to get to sleep in the camper. Plus there were bears in the campsites and the neghboring campers were banging pots and pans and screaming. It got a little annoying after the 3rd night of it.

The first day we went to a rock beach that was walking distance from our camp. We drove our cars so that we didn't have to carry all of our stuff the whole way. We did have to carry it in from the road to the water but it wasn't too far. It wasn't the kids favorite beach. There was no sand in sight. It literally was all rocks. It hurt to walk on with out shoes. But the weather was nice and we still had a really enoyable time.

Ashley & Eden collecting rocks which they both hauled all the way back to the campsite. Ashley actually brought hers home! When they disappeared from her bed she asked me about it and I said " The rock fairies must have come back to get them" She thought about it and decided it was a good answer and was ok that her rocks were gone.

The last day we went to Pope Beach. Carter fell asleep in the car and after a few days of no naps and not sleeping well at nights I was not about to wake him up. So I stayed in the car. Just as they hauled everything out of the car to the beach the wind started blowing like crazy. Gary took a picture of the girls wrapped up trying to stay warm. Less than an hour later they were hauling everything back in the car and changing into warm clothes. Then the rain started to pour! Ashley was so disappointed that when we got back to our campsite (maybe a mile down the road) that it was raining there, too. She thought it was just raining at the beach. Too cute.
Thanks to the Pursell's big camper we all packed in. The younger kids watched a movie, the older kids and the moms played a card game and the dads ditched us all to "run an errand" We all know they just didn't want to be stuck in the camper with that many kids!! The weather cleared up pretty quickly and we went back outside for dinner and campfire.
Good memories.
